"A civic centerpiece defined by history and culture"
The goal of this urban design study is to create a vibrant mixed-use center that helps complete the master plan for an important section of downtown Baku. The project includes retail, residential, and office space in a total of 28 new buildings. The scale and character of the urban design for this dynamic environment is based on the Old City, Icheri Sheher, a UNESCO World Heritage site in Baku dating back to at least the 12th century. The architecture also references the European influences that characterized Baku’s buildings in the 19th and early 20th centuries.
